Calling all Ascend leaders and members in the Greater Washington area (members in Virginia, DC, and Maryland): Ascend Greater Washington is excited to launch its first Emerging Leader Scholarship Award. The scholarship will award $1,000 to outstanding Pan-Asian students in an undergraduate or graduate program studying within the Greater Washington area (defined as within the confines of Virginia, the District of Columbia, and Maryland). Scholarship aid may be used only for the payment of expenses that directly relate to obtaining a higher education degree (e.g.; tuition, fees, and/or books and materials). Payments are sent directly to the student's financial aid office/academic institution on behalf of the student. Aid shall not be used for room and board. The application is due June 30th and the recipient(s) will be notified in the summer and celebrated in the IAG conference in the fall.
The applicant is required to be an Ascend member at the time the award is granted; student membership costs $25. See https://www.ascendgw.org/membership for more details. Student chapter leadership is preferred, though not required.

Ascend Membership Required
Basic requirement for considered candidates to be chosen for the scholarship is an Ascend Student Membership or Ascend Membership. Applicants can become a member at any point to be considered.
